2018 Winter Paralympics

2018 Winter Paralympics - 27/02/2018

Officially known as the XII Paralympic Winter Games, these winter games will be held at the same venue as the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea. This was organised by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) between the 9th and 18th of March 2018 and is defined as a international winter sports athletic event.

On October 15th 2009, the International Olympic Committee received two other bids. One from the host of the 1972 Summer Olympics, Munich, Germany and one from the city of Annecy, France. These 3 were selected as candidate cities on June 22nd 2010 with the winning bid announced at the 123rd IOC session in Durban, South Africa on July 6th 2011.

October 25th 2013 and the new emblem being used for the 2018 Winter Paralympic Games is revealed in preparation for the handover from Sochi on March 16th 2014.

Being held for 10 days the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Olympics will run from the 9th to 18th March 2018 in PyeongChange, Gangwon Province, the Republic of Korea

After receiving the majority vote at the 123rd IOC Session on July 7th 2011 after 3 consecutive bids, PyeongChang was selected to be the host city for the 2018 Paralympic Winter Games

This will be the first time the country has hosted am Olympic games, the last being 30 years ago at the Seoul Paralympic Games in 1988. PyeongChang will be the stage for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies and most snow sports. Alpine skiing events will take place in Jeongseon, and all ice sports will be competed in the coastal city of Gangneung.
